It was a competition entry for lower middle income group initiated by Build Bangladesh Ltd.

An early learning center for children overlooks exhibition space connected with a vegetable garden . Waiting parents may utilize their time here and make the children interested in gardening from a very early age.

A small playlot for tiddlers is on the side which is connected with the larger central playground. A small pond is separated from the children’s zone by a pedestrian pathway adjoining north and south block. The seatings near this will make a perfect space for evening meet up.

On the first floor there is a library and gym, which are also accessible to outsiders through a distinct entry from site access.Two grass terraces are adorned with decorative jali overlooking the central green space.

Brick is considered as the major building element for its functional and historical importance in our culture’s context. Other building materials are also selected according to cost and longevity.The buildings are up-to walking limit. Western heat is blocked by wall and louvres. Large openings in north and south side ensures ample daylight penetration and natural ventilation. Brick jali in places provide privacy and heat protection. Solar panels and rainwater collection system has been integrated with ample vegetation covering on the site.

The community building is placed near the entry, which houses a prayer zone, market space and vendor zone. The space may act as amorning vegetable market, night market on festivals., craft exhibition on weekends etc.

The space will be a social meeting zone and an aspiring market place to make the residents and others to become entrepreneurs.

The housing complex must not only provide shelter with basic amenities but function as a learning center for its residents regardless of their age, gender, occupation or belief. The intention is to achieve greater density, better quality of life, and a shared lifestyle.
